O' Holy Night

My latest piece..O' Holy Night. I wanted to make another holiday piece. Three pembrokes in awe of the bright christmas star, with their forest friends. I will be offerering this piece on ebay. This painting is a 10"x10" canvas with 1 1/2" stretchers. Sides are painted. This looks SO much better in person, it's so hard to capture these images with a scanner. I have to adjust the brightness and contrast, and sometimes the color doesn't look right. I was happy with the way this one came out. Happy holidays!!

(stars, stockings, hearts and mittens) All are handpainted and all different. They are also sealed with sealant, and ready for the tree. There are four sets on ebay right now and I will be putting three more on next week.

Keratoconus an eye disease

I thought since this is my blog, I feel like writing about an eye disease I have. I was diagnosed in my twenties with Keratoconus in both eyes. This is a disease that affects the shape of the cornea. My vision has slowly degraded as I have gotten older. I have severe vision loss in my left eye (20/800) and reduced vision in my right. I have been fitted with special contacts, made with a special material and prescribed for my eyes. I can't believe the difference this has made, and I don't know how I painted so long, without being able to see clearly. I just want to bring attention to this eye disease as It is not very well known. I have a link to the National Keratoconus Foundation site for more information. New modern procedures can make a world of difference for the vision impaired. Now back to painting!

New painting.."Winter Frolic"

I just finished this piece. It's acrylic on 12"x12" canvas with 1 1/2 inch stretchers. This one I really enjoyed. It has a lot of detail, that sometimes It's hard to pick up with a photo. It took me a few days to finish this. Its ready to hang with hanger already attached. I have listed this on ebay and this design is now available on some products in my CafePress store, for the holidays.

A Percentage of my auctions go to CorgiAid

I am now making monthly donations to CorgiAid. CorgiAid is a nonprofit organization founded to provide financial assistance to corgis and corgi mixes. They help out those who rescue dogs from shelters or other non-permanent homes, then foster them until a new home is found. I am donating a percentage from every original painting that is auctioned off on Ebay. If you would like to donate directly to CorgiAid to help corgis find new homes or provide financial assistance to a corgi who needs medical attention, please visit CorgiAid on the list of links under organizations to the right.Thank you for supporting a wonderful organization.

My very first ACEO!!!

I just created my first ACEO. It was fun and the first of many to come!

ACEO stands for "Art Cards, Editions and Originals". These cards are 3.5
inches by 2.5 inches, the size of trading cards. Art cards are meant to be traded, admired in a small frame or an album! Art for your pocket!

This card is a small original piece hand painted with acrylic paints on Strathmore 140 lb cold press watercolor paper. It is then lightly sprayed with matte fixative to protect and secure the integrity of the colors. I then title, sign and date each one. Each ACEO card will be carefully shipped in a heavy card protective sleeve.I just listed this on Ebay If anyone is interested...8) Please look for more corgis to come!

"Fairy Friends"

Legend has it that the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is an "enchanted" dog, and certainly this must be true! 'Tis said he was used by the fairies and elves of Wales to pull fairy coaches, work fairy cattle, and serve as a steed for the fairy warriors. Even today those people with keen eyes and understanding hearts may see the marks of the "fairy saddle" in the coat over the shoulders.
I just finished this "Fairy Friends" painting. This one took me quite a while, but was fun. I handpainted the 12" x 12" canvas with acrylic paints. I then decoupaged paper fairies onto the canvas. I then sealed the whole painting with sealant to bring out the colors and protect It. This canvas is really thick and heavy. It has 1 1/2 inch stretchers and a medium texture. These are my favorite canvases to work with. they feel really well built and substantial. I like to sometimes do a "mixed media" piece. Incorporating paint and other items such as paper, glitter, or "jewels" is a fun way to "spice up" a piece, or just make It unique.

"SnowAngel"

I just finished this piece. It's called "SnowAngel" I wanted to paint a corgi playing in the snow on a oool winter's day. It is warm here in California, and I just wanted to remember how nice and beautiful the winter can be.

A spin on an earlier corgi design..

I had painted this painting previously, and had purposely left an area above the corgi so that I could include text. I decided later that I should finish It since It didn't look right. So I thought I should paint in a treat and a ball. I call this one "Dreamer" now. I am sure this is just a few things dogs dream about!

New designs will be coming....

Well since I haven't painted anything lately,I will post another pic I took of the cute little tri color.I have some great ideas for new corgi designs for the holidays. (I know, I am trying to think ahead) I will be painting as much as I can soon. I have been working on some web pages the last few weeks. They are kind of stressing since I am learning as I go and It takes a lot of time sitting in front of the computer. It's better than being outside right now as tempertures here are above 100. I would rather be painting though. I will be updating according to the new work. Thank you for visiting!

Cute pictures of corgis...

I got a new digital camera recently. I thought to myself.."Wow! This will be great!!" There is a annual dog show that is held here and I can take tons of pics of corgis!! The Apple Valley Kennel Club puts on a great show.

I charge my camera, go out early on Saturday morning in the cold and rain, excited about snapping priceless pics of pups! I see some adorable corgis! I started to take pictures and..my camera goes dead. Hello? It's really not working and Its now broken and frozen!! I couldn't believe It since It was new! So much for getting my corgi pics. 8( I do have two cute pics of a tri color right before the camera went dead. He was a young corgi and so sweet! I want to do a design with him for my store.

I guess I will have to find some more corgis to photograph. CORGI MODELS NEEDED!! HEHE!!

Wow Its been awhile...

I haven't posted anything lately because I have been painting the interior of my house and redecorating.I would rather be painting on canvas, but "ya gotta do
what ya gotta do." I am trying to decorate in a more modern contemporary feel.

Old Navy is looking for a new spokesdog. They have a contest running until the end of the month. (May) You should check it out and enter your pooches!!!
Just go to the old navy site and look for the dog starpower link. The web address is : www.oldnavy.com

I entered my Raider. Here he is resting on a warm desert afternoon.

Beddy Bye Time

I named this one "Beddy Bye Time", then renamed It "Harley's Beddy Bye Time." Harley's owner Jan, is nice enough to send me pictures for painting reference, from time to time. This is of her pembroke welsh corgi "Harley" resting in his doggy bed. I liked doing this one.

Cockapoo "Sadie"

This one was a challenge. I have never painted a cockapoo before. It was for my mother-in-law's birthday. It is "Sadie" her cockapoo. I gave It my best attempt. I find these "fluffy" dogs are hard for me. I need to do more fluffy breeds to practice. I cannot say this one was fun, but It came out okay.

Pug Starry Night

I finished another Van Gogh inspired painting. This one is "Pug Starry Night" It was a commission. It was fun.

VanGogh Inspired

I finished a painting this afternoon. It was inspired by vanGogh's iris painting. I of course included a corgi! I really enjoy painting VanGogh works. I love the colors and It seems to flow so easily. I think my next will be another vanGogh inspired piece. I will have to go and find one I really like and change It up with the addition of a little pup! I added this to my CafePress store. I went to the Apple Valley Kennel Club dog show a couple of weeks ago. It was raining and snowing, but I saw the cutest Pembrokes there. I wanted to take so many pictures, but wouldn't you know It, my camera had to BREAK right at that moment. So I can't take any adorable bunny butt photos until next year. 8( I need to find another dog show, or corgi source for more reference photos and inspiration...!!!

Clay corgis

I thought It might be fun to create sculptures of some of my past paintings. I sculpted this one after my "Snoozing with hedgie" painting. This is my version in clay. Handsculpted and painted. It is fun to change mediums once in a while.

Jake and his toys

I finished this commission of Jake and his toys. He is such a handsome boy and It was a joy to put him on canvas. He is surrounded by his real favorite toys. Thank you to Jake's owners for the privilege of painting your boy!

Proud Parents..

I finished this painting today. I call It "Proud Parents" Oh they are shoe eaters..a chip right off the ol' block!

Dabbling..in clay

I like to dabble in different mediums. I have done a few polymer clay corgi sculptures. The sculpty is fun to work with and paint. I will probably do a figure once in a while. I am always looking to incorporate a cute corgi in different forms of art!

The red and white or tri color debate...

I sometimes debate as to what color pembroke to paint. I really love the red and whites, but the tri's are so cute and wonderfully colored. So I decided to do a "pop art" kind of painting and incorporate both colors in one painting. So here It is..one half a red and white and the other a tri. There that solves my problem of making a decision! Now..what should I paint next??

Spring Corgi Frap

Here is my latest canvas. It's a group of corgis "frapping." I have heard this term mentioned when corgis play. I painted to encourage spring to hurry up! We had wonderful warm spring weather the last couple of weeks here in California. The last few days It has turned very chilly, and It reminds me that we are really still in Winter...Come on spring!!!

Oh the fate of the stuffed hedgie...

Oh the poor hedgies of the world! Slobbered on, depawed and destuffed, but oh so loved! My dog raider has two hedgies. One has been reduced to only a "pelt', while so far the other is still intact. He still loves his "pelt" and carries It in his mouth and looks lovingly at the scrap of mangled fur. I have painted this corgi picture with the common misadventures of hedgies the world over. "The destuffing of hedgie." These poor little rodents are commonly seen dangling out of a canine's mouth, and "loved" until they are shadows of their former selves. Luckily the stuffed hedgehog is not endangered and can be found lurking in the pet section of your local Walgreen's drug store. All hedgies should be happy to know that they bring great joy to the four legged creatures, and are not destuffed in vain. They will never be forgotten.

Corgi agility

I am on a roll, I finished another painting today. I call It "Future agility champions." Dog agility is a popular event showing handler control, agility, and confidence. The sport of agility is comprised of a course set up of many different obstacles. Agility is meant to be a fun, non-regimented sport, with a lot of spectator appeal. Obstacles include jumps, tunnels, a dog walk, a see-saw or teeter, an A-frame and weave polesdrive. It is very entertaining and thrilling to watch. This is my first agility painting.

Tri color corgi with petunias

My second corgi painting this year, is of a tri color. I really like the coloring of the tri's. I painted this one with petunias. This was painted from a reference photograph that the owner kindly sent for me to use. I would love to recieve snapshots of corgis to use for reference! I painted this one because It reminds me that spring is right around the corner!

Just added corgi all occasion cards!

I have added some cute corgi cards with greetings on them to my pembroke welsh corgi art store. If you need cards to announce your new corgi addition or puppy, they are perfect! There is also other cards including Happy Barkday!, for your corgi friends.

I will be adding more in the near future. These are fun to create!

Fun commission!

I just finished a logo for You Lucky Dog biscuits!

It is of Lucy (owner's cute girl) the corgi lounging in her pool floaty, decked out in her princess garb, chowing down on her favorite biscuits! It was a fun and exciting project. It will be fun to see my work advertising for a product!

When You Lucky Dog gets their website up and running, I will provide a link to them. Please check them out! Your dog will love them!
